Muses and Harry Potter and new housemates, oh my!

I've been thinking lately about Connor, Caleb's twin. I got the idea in my head for an AU fic about what it would've been like if he hadn't died. And now I have a Connor muse. He's like a nicer and at the same time fiercer version of Caleb. Somebody help me, please.

I think HBP is my favourite book so far. Mostly because we got so much more in regards to characters. Harry suddenly growing up and being all mature grated a bit, but not so much that I didn't enjoy it.

I like canon Draco. Fanon Draco annoys me a lot of the time, mostly because he's more often a Sark replica than following the Draco characterisation. Canon Draco is an idiot and a coward and he tries so hard to be the bad guy, and even that he screws up but he just keeps trying. He gets up every time someone knocks him down and keeps coming back for more punishment. I love Harry's obsession with him this year and Harry's 'one true love' type relationship with Ginny just because it shows how fucked up Harry and Draco would be together. And you know I like fucked up. Draco on the train, me loves that. A little glimpse of cleverness and sharp eyes and viciousness. Draco's an idiot and adorable when screwing up and getting everything wrong, but wow on the few occasions when he manages a win.

AND HE CRIED! TO MYRTLE! I am just too pleased with the Slytherins in this book.

And okay, yeah, I'm an idiot, but I loved that there were a few students who were too young to take the apparition test. Being born late in the year, I feel their pain.

All the relationship stuff was a bit 'eh' for me. In high school I mostly steered clear of the drama and that's all reminded me why. Tonks and Remus are gorgeous but so out of nowhere. I love Fleur and Bill. Well, actually, more Fleur because I don't think Bill said two words. Hermione and Ron...eh. Harry and Ginny...well, I guess it was always coming.

My first thought in regards to the locket and the note was Regulus Black, mostly because his name's been dropped a few times and Sirius was such a major character. I've read a few theories now about him and it stands to reason, but who knows.

What else I liked...There were some issues addressed with Harry's way of seeing things in black and white. Narcissa's a mother who begged for Snape to help Draco, her only son. Snape's all shades of grey now. Draco was so close to going to Dumbledore's side for protection. Blaise is a black guy! Who knew?!

And now let the H/D writers go crazy and produce much fic for me.

This afternoon I go to meet the new housemates. Second semester starts tomorrow. Wish me luck and fun roomies.
